"Model props and architectural geometry alongside experienced artists at Insomniac Games, creating UV layouts, normal maps, and textures that go directly into real game worlds."

Join the Art Department at Insomniac Games and gain hands-on experience creating environments and assets that help bring game worlds to life.

As an Environment Art Intern, you'll collaborate with experienced artists to model, texture, surface, and place assets within game environments. You'll contribute to creating natural and architectural elements while learning how environment art supports the visual design of a game.

Throughout the internship, you'll receive mentorship from senior members of the Environment art team, explore new artistic techniques and tools, and gain practical experience working within a game development studio.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Model natural and architectural geometry using concept art and photo reference, with a focus on creating props and supporting level artists.
  • Create UV layouts, generate normal maps, and develop textures and materials for environment objects.
  • Contribute to modeling, texturing, surfacing, and placing component assets to help build game worlds.
  • Learn and apply new artistic techniques and tools to maintain a consistent visual style under the direction of the Art Director.
  • Collaborate with the Environment art team to develop and refine assets while gaining hands-on experience with game production workflows.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Currently enrolled at a college or university studying a related Arts field. No prior professional experience or training required.
  • A creative, self-motivated, and responsible approach to learning and completing assigned work.
  • Passion for video games and art, with an interest in environment modeling, texturing, and game development.
  • Willingness to learn new tools and techniques and collaborate with experienced artists.
  • Python skills and previous experience with Maya are preferred.

Intern Pay Range $36.50 — $36.50 USD
