Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc (HATCI) is seeking a mid-level Environmental, Health, Safety & Security (EHSS) Specialist to support our multi-site operations. This role focuses on ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, managing safety programs, and promoting a culture of health, safety, and security. The ideal candidate will have experience in general industry safety, industrial hygiene, emergency management, and security, with exposure to EV battery safety preferred.
Regulatory Compliance & Policy Management
- Develop, update, and enforce Environmental, Health, Safety and Security (EHSS) policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations (EPA, EGLE, California-specific laws).
- Manage environmental permits and reporting requirements, including Title V Renewable Operating Permit (ROP), air permits, wastewater permits, hazardous material storage/disposal, and SDS reporting.
- Maintain all required records and documentation; provide regular reports to management.
Risk Assessment & Incident Investigation
- Investigate industrial accidents, injuries, and occupational diseases to determine causes and preventive measures.
- Compile, analyze, and interpret statistical data related to occupational illnesses and accidents.
- Review plans and specifications for new machinery or equipment to ensure EHSS requirements are met.
- Inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify hazards and ensure compliance.
- Apply root cause analysis (RCA), Risk matrix and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) methodologies.
