Quantinuum · Posted 12 days ago
Design the transport waveforms, trapping configurations, and electrode structures that move ions through Quantinuum's trapped-ion quantum computers, with publication opportunities.
We are seeking an Ion Transport Designer in our Broomfield, CO location to join our engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, simulation, and optimization of ion transport architectures used in Quantinuum's trapped-ion quantum computing systems. You will develop and validate transport waveforms, trapping configurations, and electrode designs that enable reliable, high-fidelity movement of ions throughout complex quantum computing devices. You will also contribute to research and development efforts, prototype evaluation, system characterization, integration activities, documentation, and the transition of new designs into production environments. Working closely with physicists, engineers, and software teams, you will help identify and resolve performance limitations, improve transport efficiency, and support the scalability of next-generation quantum processors. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in charged particle dynamics, electromagnetic field modeling, numerical simulation, experimental validation, and engineering problem solving, with experience developing solutions that balance performance, reliability, manufacturability, and long-term operational stability.
All applicants for placement in safety-sensitive positions will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug test.
