Quality Engineer, Field

What To Expect The Field Quality Engineering team’s mission is to improve customer experience of Tesla products by reducing field issues, in collaboration with large cross-section of other engineering teams. The primary objective of this role is to root cause failures from the field, work cross-functionally for design changes and implement system/manufacturing controls to improve product quality. The successful candidate for this position must be a problem-solver at his/her core, have a strong quality & customer-focused mindset, and have the personal drive and stamina for relentless, continual improvement (personally and professionally).

What You'll Do

Lead cross-functional problem-solving teams to drive process and product improvements; use of QA methodologies to manage and facilitate issue resolution including root cause investigations and the development, implementation and monitoring of effective corrective and preventive actionsMonitor products field performance, identify trending issuesPerform technical root-cause analysis of vehicle systems (Chassis, LV/HV, FW, Thermal)Drive containment and corrective actions implementation into manufacturing line / design / supplierCommunicate field performance of the engineering system, gather buy-in from engineering peers and leadership on improvement priorities and urgencyParticipate in continuous improvement activities and take preventive actionsShare Lessons Learned from previous field issues; Provide upfront feedback by participating in design reviews to ensure product performance, reliability, and manufacturability issues are identified and risks mitigated. (DFMEAs) Take part in ongoing optimization of the products and processes (performance, cost, technology)
