"Validate the central compute unit behind GM's software-defined vehicles, from bring-up and EMC through release readiness on a liquid-cooled ECU platform."
Job Description About the Team Compute & Connectivity Hardware (CCH) is part of GM’s Vehicle Software & Electronics Engineering (VSEE) organization within Software & Services Engineering. The team develops the physical hardware foundation for GM’s software-defined vehicles, including compute, connectivity, networking, displays, and other electronic platforms that enable in-vehicle software, infotainment, ADAS, vehicle controls, and connected experiences.
CCH’s work spans architecture, requirements, hardware and electronics design, embedded hardware, systems integration, validation, launch, and in-market performance. Our engineers collaborate across software, systems, controls, cybersecurity, functional safety, vehicle engineering, suppliers, and manufacturing to develop reliable, production-ready hardware for GM’s vehicle portfolio.
The Role At General Motors, we're redefining the vehicle through centralized computing, advanced electrical architectures, and software-defined capabilities. Our Software-Defined Vehicle (SDV) platform powers next-generation features including automated driving, connected services, and immersive digital experiences. At the center of this transformation is GM's in-house designed Central Compute Unit (CCU), a high-performance, liquid-cooled computing platform that serves as the foundation for future vehicle intelligence.
As a Senior Hardware Validation Engineer - Compute Validation, you will be responsible for validating and releasing next-generation compute hardware that powers GM's software-defined vehicles. You will lead validation activities for complex ECU platforms, owning test strategy, execution, issue resolution, and release readiness across environmental, EMC, and functional validation domains. This role requires strong technical leadership, hands-on debugging expertise, and close collaboration with hardware, software, systems, manufacturing, and vehicle integration teams.
