Senior Quality Engineer, Fauna

Build the quality system from the ground up for Fauna Robotics' first volume production of consumer robots, owning inspection, FAI, and reliability testing with the contract manufacturer.
As a Senior Manufacturing Quality Engineer, you will own and drive quality systems across the full hardware development and production lifecycle, from early prototypes through subassembly builds and into volume production at our contract manufacturer. You'll work closely with our mechanical, electrical, embedded software, and manufacturing teams to build robust quality processes, define test coverage strategies, and ensure our products meet reliability, safety, and performance requirements.
Key job responsibilities Quality on the Production Lines
- Contain defects the day they appear and decide their disposition at the site, using a nonconformance log and a weekly material review board (MRB)
- Close each corrective action only when the fix is verified
- Report first-pass yield, defects per robot, escapes and repeat failures every week
Documentation & Inspection Criteria
- Author and maintain clear, accurate work instructions, assembly procedures, and inspection checklists for the production floor
- Ensure documentation is version-controlled and synchronized with engineering changes
Contract Manufacturer Partnership
- Serve as the key quality interface to our contract manufacturer, reviewing quality plans, conducting audits and driving resolution of production issues
- Travel to CM facilities as needed to support builds and resolve quality escapes
- Establish quality metrics and reporting cadences with CM leadership
Reliability & Compliance
- Lead or support DFMEA/PFMEA activities to proactively identify and mitigate failure modes
- Support product safety and compliance activities (UL, CE, RoHS, UN38.3 for battery, etc.)
- Work with the reliability team on stress screening and life testing, and bring line failure data to that team
