Sr Software Engineer, Back End

Job Summary: What you need to know about the role As a Senior Backend Software Engineer, you will own the design and reliability of Java services across checkout, commerce, identity and money movement for PayPal POS. You will lead the technical side of taking ownership of these services from our Sweden team: shape the plan, mentor engineers, and be the person we trust with critical payment and financial flows.

Meet our team Zettle SMB Direct is the part of PayPal that builds the native point-of-sale experience for small and medium-sized businesses: the PayPal POS app (formerly Zettle Go) and the Zettle Terminal. Merchants use it to take card and tap payments, run checkout, manage their product library and inventory, issue receipts, handle refunds and invoices, and see what they earned. We are a growing engineering team in Bangalore working closely with colleagues in Sweden, who built much of the platform. Job Description: Essential Responsibilities:

• Delivers complete solutions spanning all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) (design, implementation, testing, delivery and operations), based on definitions from more senior roles.
• Advises immediate management on project-level issues
• Guides junior engineers
• Operates with little day-to-day supervision, making technical decisions based on knowledge of internal conventions and industry best practices
• Applies knowledge of technical best practices in making decisions

Minimum Qualifications:

• 3+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
