Senior Software Engineer

The LatticeOS Team builds the foundational software-defined operating system that powers our family of autonomous systems, sensors, and third-party integrations. Our work spans edge devices, robotic platforms, and cloud infrastructure, creating a unified operating environment for system orchestration, secure data distribution, and real-time execution. As a core engineering capability, LatticeOS directly enables mission-critical operations across all domains, powering both internal products and external developer partners integrating through the Lattice SDK. Our solutions are designed for real-world deployment in the most demanding operational environments, where reliable middleware, high availability, and seamless hardware-software integration make the difference between mission success and failure.

As a Senior Software Engineer working in the ProtoKV domain you will design and build the core distributed key-value infrastructure that underpins state sharing across Lattice OS, focusing on performance, reliability, and consistency guarantees at the edge. They'll own the protobuf schema evolution strategy and API surface, ensuring that services across the mesh can safely publish and consume typed state without breaking contracts. A significant portion of the role involves optimizing for the unique constraints of tactical environments — low-bandwidth links, intermittent connectivity, and strict latency requirements — where traditional distributed systems assumptions don't hold. You'll also collaborate closely with teams across Lattice to understand consumption patterns, debug cross-service state issues, and evolve ProtoKV's replication and conflict-resolution mechanisms as the platform scales to new mission sets.
