Technical Programme Manager, Electrical Engineering

IonQ is building quantum computers that change which problems the world can solve. Our Control Electronics team creates every custom electronic device inside an IonQ system, taking the hardware, gateware, firmware and test behind the precision control boards around the ion trap from development through to production.

As Technical Programme Manager for Electrical Engineering, you will drive the team's workstreams, working directly with the programme lead TPM in our Programme Management Office. You will sit at the centre of a cross-functional group of engineers and physicists, turning complex technical work into clear plans, measurable milestones and predictable delivery for our quantum computing roadmap. This is a hands-on role that takes real weight off our design engineers, so they can stay focused on design and the bench.

You will create and run the operating rhythm that keeps teams aligned and leaders informed: building development plans and an integrated schedule, tracking dependencies and surfacing risk early. You do not need to be the designer, but you need to be technical enough not to be fooled. When an estimate looks too long or a fix is always two days away, you will know which questions to ask, bring in the right architect or physicist, and turn the answer into a realistic plan with the right number of steps.
